soooooooooo saturday night went with my buddies joey n cecilia to a south of downtown l.a. warehouse gig. cecilia was gonna perform too. here was the first act of the night. "ostrich eyes" better peep em in person and myspace. www.myspace.com/ostricheyesmusic let me tell you that it was super fun n super cute zone the whole time. i wasn't able to catch all the names of the songs. i definitely thought the 3rd song of their set was my favorite. also "inappropriate" n "one four three." i talked to the drummer Lia that night, nice girl. they're all 18 and this was their first big gig too. good job. i know things can get touchy once you start to describe or label a bands sound, but in all honesty i'd say they have a punk practicality with an end result that sounds pre alternative rock proto grundge, which is fucking tight cause i don't think you could do that if you really tried to actively create and or copy a sound like that, so i think that means they're bein themselves. maybe my new favorite 18 y/o girl band?

yay! here's one of my new buddies cecilia a.k.a. spring queen! www.myspace.com/springqueensongs you know, the first time i saw her perform, i was so moved that after her performance, i ran up to her, said her set was beautiful and kissed her on the cheek. i was under the influence of "stuff" but yo, i've been under the influence of many a "stuff" and i don't usually go running around kissing everyone on the cheek. anyways, this performance was equally beautiful. maybe one of the more poignant comments of her performance that night was between me n joey and how he was expressing how impressive her command of the "one person on a stool with an acoustic guitar" skills were. trust me it ain't easy. but she's soooooooooo fucking good at it. you must check her myspace.

anyways, that was already a long ass day and night, but we ended up leaving the warehouse n going to a house party in mar vista. they had fucking firedancers!!! this girls name was maggie, and she had pirate pants and no standing alliances with any local fire tribes but did have hopes of one day professionally attending burning man. the end.
